It's light, portable, and gets a nice NPR signal, even with the antennae down.I wrote the seller, asking for a price adjustment, considering that it is not a TV signal receptor, as was advertised. I live in a house without television and needed to be able to listen to some TV over the radio. Still Considering It, in Virginia But, of course, I've heard nothing from them.So, do I send it back for full refund. This little Sony was expensive, but worth it for the television channels. But post digital TV, this little box gets ZERO in terms of TV signal, and I am not happy about that at all, considering I paid $135.00 to have it.That said, the sound is excellent.
Buyer beware. There was no mention in the product description when I made the purchase that due to the change in tv signals from analog to digital the tv band is useless. To prospective buyers, don't expect tv audio reception from this or any "tv band" unit. I have titled this as an am/fm radio and NOT tv band. This is a fine SONY product as far as the am/fm is concerned, but I was looking for the tv band.
I live in Chicago and I am about 14 miles from the sending tv signals. Except for one which came in with lots of problems, and could not understand what was being sad. Inadequate unit for using it to receive free tv signals. I bought the item to receive local free tv broadcasts. Unfortunately this unit did not receive any station.
Will buy from this vendor again should the need arise. Great service. Order was processed promptly and shipped right away. Arrived in perfect condition.
I have since returned this purchase. The reason I purchased this was for the TV band in the first place. Sony ICF-36 Portable AM/FM/TV/Weather RadioSound was a bit static when listening in the factory work place. After purchasing this radio, I found out that it will stop working w/ the change to digital signal in June.
